Branxton and Greta are at the northern end of Wine Country Drive and is the northern gateway to the world-renowned Hunter Valley wine country of Pokolbin and Rothbury.

The Branxton District is the home of “Kirkton”, Bellford, the place where the man regarded as the “Father” of the Australian wine industry, planted his first grape vine.

The renowned Wyndham Estate was established in 1827, close to Branxton, with their first vines planted around the founder George Wyndham’s original homestead “Dalwood”.

Both Branxton and Greta are idyllic rural settlements to live, work and play. They make the perfect base for a relaxing getaway, with time to admire the historic buildings and wander around the town before heading south to the Hunter Valley vineyards.

There is a selection of caravan parks in Hunter wine Country and surrounding areas and Branxton is the ideal destination for RV tourists, with an official dump location, which makes travelling with your motorhome or camper van so much easier!

Located on Branxton Road (the main road between Branxton and Cessnock) the Rothbury Riot Memorial recalls a little known moment in the history of coal mining in the Hunter Valley.
