Known as the Towns With Heart, Kurri Kurri and the surrounding areas, Heddon Greta, Neath, Pelaw Main, Stanford Merthyr and Weston make up the seven towns which owe their existence to the discovery and development of the valuable Greta Coal Seam. Originally established to house the coalminers, this heritage is still evident in the architecture, design, civic buildings and cultural facilities throughout the Towns With Heart area.

KURRI KURRI MURALS

showcasing the history and heritage of this region, the Towns With Heart, have over 60 outdoor public artworks on display, providing a visual journey, telling the stories of the people, events and places that shaped the area’s unique character, culture and heritage.

Visitors can pick up a mural map at the Kurri Kurri Visitor Centre for a self-guided tour or groups can undertake a tour by one of our local guides.

Richmond Vale Railway Museum and steam railway

Being the only operating heritage railway north of the Hawkesbury, the RVRM offers visitors a variety of activities to participate in, including unlimited full-sized steam-train rides, miniature train rides, Child-accessible signalling activity and historic films in the mining museum.

Opening on the first three Sundays of each month and every Sunday during School Holidays, RVRM

KURRI KURRI NOSTALGIA FESTIVAL

If you are a fan of Rock n Roll, Classic Cars, Hot rods, Fashion and the 50’s and 60’s, then this March Festival is for you. With over 500 cars on display for the ‘Show and Shine’, rock n roll dance workshops, talent quests and lots of music, you will need your swing skirts and dancing shoes.  Enjoy the markets stalls and side show alley. Held each year in September, this community Art Show showcases the talents of hundreds of artists. The Chelmesford Hotel serves burgers and Schnitzels, while the Abermain Hotel offers a range of pub meals. There are Asian choices with both Thai and Chinese as well as the usual fast food options.
