Vineyards and Wine Tasting

With a splendid range of cellar doors dotted among the vineyards, this enticing winemaking region produces fine olive oils, too. The locals now only live in the area but many work at family owned vineyards and wineries, with a focus on keeping the vines in the family. Here are some of the local Rothbury Wineries and Cellar Doors.

Ballabourneen Wine & Co – a boutique producer of fine wines and creates all the traditional favourites, as well as producing the Hunter Valley’s original sparkling Moscato.

Black Creek Farm – Thélème Wines;  a family owned vineyard with a large fireplace in the farmhouse and the balconies overlooking the vineyard, they have created a relaxed and friendly French provincial inspired cellar door design.

Hart and Hunter – boutique family winery doing things their own way and having a lot of fun in the process.   Offering premium boutique Single Vineyard Wines  you can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and tasting, either inside or on the lovely front deck over-looking the vineyard of Gabriel’s Paddocks.

Saltire Estate – with the first floor Cellar Door featuring floor to ceiling windows which look out over the industrial winery, visitors can see where wines are made while they taste them, enjoy a picnic on the large lawn outside the winery with vineyard and olive grove views.

St Clements Estate – a relatively new vineyard, all wines are made from grapes grown on the estate and handpicked.

Lucy’s Run Wines – a small boutique winery, producing about 800 cases of wine per year. Appreciate meeting the owners and growers for first-hand and personal stories from the vineyard.
